FCAN Foundation is a non-profit education and research organization under IRS Code 501(c)(3). 

Contributions to FCAN Foundation are tax-deductible. FCAN Foundation conducts research and public education on Florida consumer issues and seeks to empower consumers on issues including utilities, health care, infrastructure, environment, and financial services.

FCAN Foundation provides needed consumer resources on health care, transportation, environment, utilities, and insurance along with partners at Fair Share Education Fund and Consumer Federation of America.

Bill Newton is also Deputy Director of the Florida Consumer Action Network,
where he has served since 1987. Bill works on consumer
issues including insurance, utilities, healthcare and environment.

Bill’s extensive work on insurance issues includes fraud, homeowner,
life, health, and auto. He was a funded consumer advocate for the
National Association of Insurance Commissioners for 3 years and has testified to the Florida legislature on
insurance issues,

He has been widely quoted on consumer issues in news outlets such as
U.S. News & World Report, Scientific American, National Public Radio,
Insurance Journal, Nerd Wallet, Tampa Bay Times, Orlando Sentinel, Miami Herald and many others.

He is a board member and Secretary of the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud. He is a Consumer Federation of America (Board
member and chair, Insurance Policy Subcommittee, a member of the Progress Florida
Advisory Board, and was appointed to the Home Foreclosure Task Force by Gov.
Charlie Crist.
